“ We screwed up our reservation and showed up 30 mins late. Disappointed we asked to move the reservation for the following weekend. Little did we know Ella, the lead host, and Daniel, the front end lead, worked some magic and found a way to get us a table. Once seated, Daniel presented 2 glasses of champagne and a handwritten note congratulating us for 23 years of marriage. It was such a kind gesture and very much appreciated. Our server, Chris, made the best drink and meal recommendations. Joesph presented the best table side Cesar salad (10/10 recommend). We started with the oysters, our steaks were cooked perfectly (medium and medium rare), we had the roasted mushrooms and dirty hash browns; both were to die for. And for dessert we had the carrot cake. It was light and fluffy and delicious. Everyone we encountered was friendly and went above and beyond. We can't wait to come back! ”

“ Absolutely amazing restaurant. From the ambience, to the view and the food, this is a great place to enjoy your weekend or just any time out with friends or your date. We came here for my bachelor party with a group of 7 and it really made the night for us. We got 2 tomahawk steaks and they were seasoned and cooked perfectly. We also got the Caesar salad and it was the type where they make it in front of you which was cool. Espresso Martinis were also on point, probably the best we've ever had. Born and Raised is pretty much the coolest restaurant you can go to in San Diego ”

“ Had a random date night here during our visit to SD. The place is nice and had somewhat of a Gatsby feel to it. It was loud, so definitely not the place to go if you're looking for a quiet night out. Service was very friendly and attentive. No complaints here. We ordered the ribeye and dirty hash browns to share. The ribeye was mid. I've had better ribeyes at home. It was under seasoned and lacking that crust on the outside. It was a shame because this place is supposed to be known for their steaks. The dirty hash, on the other hand, might be my new favorite preparation of potatoes. Our server said it takes 3 days to make and I believe him. We also ordered some wine and a New York sour from the bar. The drinks were great and well prepared. We are definitely planning to return to try some of the other items on the menu, but we probably won't be choosing this spot if we were craving steaks. ”

“ Celebrated a birthday dinner here and it was a great experience. Parking is nearly impossible, highly recommend uber. Very dim but lively atmosphere & everything was presented neatly. Ordered the sampler with 2 sides and dessert, all came out amazing. Received a nice birthday card & candle. Our server Jonathan was very attentive with making sure we were taken care of, and took the time to explain everything in great detail. Hostess was welcoming & mostly everyone was great. There was one unfortunate interaction that's not worth docking a star but is worth to mention. Another employee came to set up our table with plates/utensils. I had my phone on the table & he made a snarky, passive aggressive comment out of nowhere: "I'm kind of tempted to tell you there should be no phones during dinner." It felt kind of rude honestly, considering it was just on the table. And the fact that literally everyone around us was doing the same or on their phones. It's not an actual rule and isn't a crazy fancy place so I didn't appreciate that. Otherwise, we had a great time and would still highly recommend. ”

“ Ambience: Beautiful upscale restaurant!! Interior decor is very classy, felt like great gatsby mixed with jazz vibes. Interior is dimly lit and perfect for a date night. Service: Service is great, they continuously filled our waters and changed our plates/utensils which each dish that came out Food: Food took a while to get here despite it being a weeknight on a Tuesday it was very busy and took an almost an hour to get our food outside of the appetizer. I recommend the uni pasta, it was my favorite dish and the sauce is sooo flavorful with a hint of vinegar or capers-like taste mixed with buttery goodness and umami - it was chefs kiss!! The dry aged ribeye was perfectly medium rare and I loved that they gave us a sauce sampler of 4 sauces to try with the steak. The Caesar salad was expensive for a salad (probably because they make it in front of you) but it tasted like a normal cedar salad and mine had 1 crouton, wouldn't recommend getting that. The dirty hash browns were really delicious and a popular item!! ”

“ Still thinking about the best meal I've ever had--Christmas dinner at Born & Raised. Tableside Caesar salad, perfect steak, roasted mushrooms, and Broccolini. Everything was perfect. Our server, Maria, couldn't have been more attentive, helpful, and fun. I asked her to surprise me with a drink and she knew just the festive cocktail. She also had great food recommendations and was an all-around delight. Highly recommend this spot for a special meal, drink, and amazing atmosphere. Ask for Maria! ”

“ Came to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday with a reservation, every staff was so nice, friendly, and welcoming. The ambiance felt very fancy, high end, great gatsby like and I absolutely loved it in there. It felt moody, intimate, but also glamorous. We spent about 2.5 hours enjoying our time, as each entree came out timely after another so you can enjoy. We started off with drinks, and the espresso martini is one of the best I've ever had - it has vanilla whip cold foam! Amazzingggg. Their Cesar salad was also good, and a hint of spicy to it as they add hot sauce. It's a nice experience because they make it table side for you and the server provided great conversation. The dinner was amazing, the dry aged duck were chunky pieces paired well with the cucumber and lettuce wrap. I especially loved the Mac and cheese that was creamy and cheesy but not overwhelming, it was perfect. I can't forget to mention how good the bread was, buttery, soft, slightly crispy on the outside and just tasted so nice in your mouth. We definitely enjoyed ourselves here and felt so fancy. I truly loved the experience and would recommend for any date night or celebration. They even brought around a cake assortment table to display their desserts and I thought it was a nice way of letting you see the dessert to try. Overall, I'm obsessed with this place and want to take everyone here. ”
